Black Panther - Piece Of Shit Or Not?

MOVIE REVIEW

Black Panther - Piece Of Shit Or Not?

Our predictions for Black Panther based solely off of the trailers (kinda, sorta)

Joe's Take-
Under an invisible dome lies the futuristic country of Wakanda. Its King must deal with long-running family squabbles, outside influences, and the infectious laugh of Andy Serkis. Sure the King can stealthily leap on gun-toting soldiers from the treetops and shred fast moving vehicle wheels in a matter of seconds, but can he make it to family dinner on time? Well, at least there'll be a cool beat playing that's designed to patronize to the urban youth of America, while it all goes down. You know what I'm sayin, ma brotha?

My Prediction- Condescending marketing aside, this looks like a needed change of perspective in the Marvel cinematic universe. Think of this as a technologically upgraded update of Shaka Zulu. Chadwick Boseman is a solid leading man, his costars are fun to behold, and the action scenes will probably rock. Black Panther will not be a Piece Of Shit. In fact, I believe that it's going to lead into Infinity War quite nicely.

Mike's Take -
Black Panther. It looks cool, has a meh soundtrack, but for the love of me, why is it that, looking at the previous Marvel movies, Black Panther has rap songs, while the other ones seem to play, mostly "white" safe music? Let's look at the list of music for the Marvel movies

Iron Man -
Back in Black
Iron Man
Chris Cornell

Cap -
Orchestral

Hulk
Orchestral

iron man 2
AC/DC

Thor
EDM something or other, but it's building up towards the Infinity War

The Avengers
Something techno, same as Thor

Iron Man 3
More techno stuff, same as Thor

Thor 2
techno stuff similar to Avengers and Iron Man 3

Cap 2
Techno stuff that keeps along the same lines, with a little more guitar in it

Avengers 2
A simplistic, orchestral version of Pinnochio

Guardians of the Galaxy
Hooked on a feeling

GotG 2
Fleetwood Mac

Doctor Strange
Orchestral

Ant-man
similar to the Avengers stuff and the iron man/thor sequels

Civil War
Orchestral - still building on a theme

Spider-Man Homecoming
Spider-Man's theme, still building up the theme leading to Infinity War
plus some sort of weird hip-hop thing

Thor 3
Immigrant Song

Black Panther
Kendrick Lamar and others, that were "inspired" by the movie.

Now, alternate soundtracks that are "inspired" by movies are generally (IMHO), garbage. It's a bunch of bad songs that use the title of the song in some way, in the song or the song is about the theme of the movie

I mean, is it me or is it that Marvel plays it safe with non-threatening music and then adds in Kendrick Lamar on the soundtrack to Black Panther and then they look sorta racist while doing it? I mean, I could be wrong, but that's just the way it looks. Oh, hey, we put a bunch of white guys into our soundtracks, we have to make it right and go straight thug hip-hop for Black Panther to get our street cred up.

BTW, not a piece of shit, but the "inspired" soundtrack is.
