Get ready for the ads!
Netflix is planning to roll out less expensive advertising-supported plans (AVOD) alongside its subscription plans (SVOD).

As part of some not so great results as part of the company’s quarterly earnings call Tuesday, Netflix co-CEO Reed Hastings revealed the company will be examining what those plans will look like “over the next year or two”.

Hastings, who has been adamantly against adopting an AVOD strategy since the company’s inception, is now warming up to that idea:

“Those who have followed Netflix know that I have been against the complexity of advertising, and a big fan of the simplicity of subscription. But as much as I am a fan of that, I am a bigger fan of consumer choice. And allowing consumers who would like to have a lower price, and are advertising-tolerant get what they want, makes a lot of sense.”

Hastings adds the fact that AVOD tiers have been embraced by its competitors like Hulu, Disney and HBO which has led to his company changing its thinking as the model has shown to work for those competitors. Hastings adds that when Netflix does launch an ad-backed tier, it would do so as a publisher without the data tracking and ad-matching that some competitors are embracing.

The news will come as music to the ears of various top marketers who have been pushing for the streaming giant to let them advertise on the service.

SEGA has premiered the trailer and set a June 23rd release date for “Sonic Origins,” an upcoming remastered collection of four classic titles from the “Sonic the Hedgehog” game franchise.

The original 16-bit “Sonic the Hedgehog” from 1991, “Sonic the Hedgehog 2” from 1992, “Sonic CD” from 1993, and “Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles ” from 1994.

The pack includes both the original ‘Classic Mode’ releases and full ‘Anniversary Mode’ remasters with upgraded animations and visuals, infinite lives, widescreen support, additional game modes and missions, and allows players to unlock content in an in-game museum.

There is also a Boss Rush mode allowing players to battle the games’ bosses back to back in quick succession, and a Mirror Mode in which players traverse mirrored stages.

One key defining change is the ability to play as Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles through any and all stages of these games, allowing for all-new ways to play in some classic levels. There are also new animated sequences similar to those in “Sonic Mania” and will be played at key moments in the story.

Unfortunately, SEGA has made purchasing the game oddly complicated by offering multiple versions and locking off some elements as paid DLC. Head to the official site to figure out which version to buy. From the looks of it, the only way to get everything is to pre-order the ‘Digital Deluxe Edition’.

“Sonic Origins” will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC starting June 23rd.

Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are set to re-team for a drama feature revolving around iconic sportswear giant Nike that has been set up at Amazon Studios, Skydance Sports and Mandalay Pictures.

Both will star and Affleck will direct the film which is currently untitled and set in the mid-1980s. Damon will play Sonny Vaccaro, a maverick sneaker salesman who led a fledgling running shoe company called Nike in a longshot effort to sign on the most transformative athlete in the history of sports to endorse their product: Michael Jordan.

Affleck will portray Nike co-founder Phil Knight in the story which follows how the endorsement, seemingly impossible at the time, would become the most significant relationship between an athletic brand and an athlete and launched the global, multi-billion-dollar contemporary sneaker industry.

Jordan himself is a mythic figure hovering above the movie and never seen. In the film, Sonny tries to reach him by gaining access to those close to him and around him.

Alex Convery wrote the original script which was originally titled “Air Jordan” and made the 2021 Black List of the best unproduced screenplays.

Affleck and Damon are doing a new pass on the script and will produce.

CNN+
Just three weeks after launch, parent company Warner Bros. Discovery has decided to suspend external marketing for their CNN+ subscription streaming-news service according to sources for Variety.

The decision makes the task of luring new subscribers to the service far more difficult. None of the CNN+ shows have been cancelled, but the trade indicates essentially everything at the newly formed Warner Bros. Discovery is under review.

Candy -
Be sure to check out the trailer for Hulu's Candy mini-series
Based on the true story of Candace Wheeler who murdered her neighbor Betty Gore on Friday, June 13, 1980 after being confronted by Betty for having an affair with her husband.
Jessica Biel is like the next Robert DeNiro or Gary Oldman - If you've seen the trailer for Candy, you know what I'm talking about.

One last story -
Stay Metal Ray
This is one of the most unbelievable band stories I have ever heard
So this guy Ray, who has a YouTube channel - Stay Metal Ray, has a video pop up on my time line with the title "my life was being threatened" - there is a link to the video below.
He was on tour with a band Concrete Dream, while the band was driving through Texas he found out that one of the band members was planning on murdering him at their (before or after) show in Cincinatti.
It was during this trip, that Ray found out that the rest of the band KNEW that this individual was going to do it. They fucking knew about it and were just going to let it happen.
